Well time travels fast and the Australian Napoleonic congress is back again in 2009. The dates are October Sat 31st & Sunday 1st November, this year we are returning to the original format with guest lecturers, wargaming , re-enactors and a dinner which is co- hosted by the Goulburn Pipes and Drums.
The committee of the Australian Napoleonic Congress will be meeting in the coming weeks to flesh out the details and come up with a short list of guest speakers to be approached. Invites to clubs and individuals will be sent out to the wargaming and the re-enactors who have already shown interest in the bi-annual event. The consulates of all of the major and minor players will be invited to the dinner along with the local dignitaries.
As normal the event will be conducted in Goulburn NSW Australia, at the Goulburn Soldiers Club corner of Sloane and Market street in the Chisholm and the lecture rooms and the ball room.
At this early stage we would welcome anybody who wishes to conduct a lecture to contact me, we are planning to pay the lecturer a speaking fee and provide refreshments for them. The lectures are planned for forty minutes in length, with five lectures per day.
We are also seeking quality Napoleonic games to grace the event as in the past the Goulburn Wargames club will conduct three games, one Grand game (General de Brigade), one skirmish game and one naval game, I suspect a number of the games will revolve around the 200th anniversary’s of the 1809 campaigns.
This year the Goulburn Tourist Information centre will be helping with advertising and ticket sales for the dinner and lectures. We plan to advertise on all general media and some targeted media.
Further Information will be available after the 20th of March 2009
Our Goal is to achieve a well rounded event that will satisfy all Napoleonic enthusiasts, I hope to see you all there!
